Affiliate Disclosure

How we make money
La Hora Dorada is free to read, and we don't run ads. We keep the lights on through affiliate commissions: when you buy something (like an eSIM, travel insurance, or a tour) through some of the links on this Site, the company pays us a small commission. It costs you nothing extra; the price is the same whether you use our link or not.
That's the whole model. No ads, no sponsored posts dressed up as advice, no selling your data. Just commissions on things we'd recommend anyway.
Our rule about it: we tell you, every time
We believe a recommendation only means something if you know where our incentive points. So:
- A short, plain-language disclosure appears right next to every affiliate link or module so you know before you click.
- This page explains the model in full, and it's linked from every page of the Site.
- We're honest about the direction of the incentive. If checking a hotel's own website might get you a better deal than the link we earn from, we'll tell you that too. Our trust is worth more than any single commission.
What we recommend, and why you can trust it
The commission never decides what we recommend. Every guide is researched and verified the same way regardless of whether there's a link in it:
- We recommend products and services because we believe they genuinely help the traveler, not because of what they pay.
- Our logistical claims carry a visible "Last verified" date and a link to the official source, so you can check them yourself.
- If something isn't worth your money, we say so, including when the free or direct option beats the one we'd earn from.
Programs we participate in
We participate in affiliate programs across the following categories. We add and remove specific partners over time; this list describes the types of programs that fund the Site:
- Connectivity (eSIM / mobile data)
- Travel insurance
- Tours, tickets & experiences
As we're approved into specific programs, we'll name them here, along with any disclosure wording those programs require. We may add further categories (for example, financial products) in the future; if we do, the same standards in this disclosure apply, and any extra disclosures required for those products will appear with them.
A note on insurance and financial products
When we mention travel insurance or, in the future, other financial products, we're pointing you toward options and linking you to the provider. We are not giving you personalized advice about what's suitable for your situation. Coverage, terms, and prices vary, and only you (or a licensed advisor) can judge what fits your needs. Always read the provider's own terms before buying.
Why we disclose this
US law (the FTC's endorsement rules) requires anyone with a financial connection to a recommendation to disclose it clearly and conspicuously. EU and UK rules (under the Unfair Commercial Practices Directive and ASA/CMA guidance) require the same for commercial content.
